The American Cancer Society is a voluntary national organization that
supports research, conducts educational programs, and offers many services
for patients and their families. The Reach to Recovery program is a
rehabilitation program for women with breast cancer run by volunteers who
have been treated for breast cancer. The trained volunteers provide
assistance in meeting physical and psychological needs, as well as
practicalities of daily living. This service is offered free of
charge. Information about services and activities in local areas can
be obtained by calling or writing the national headquarters.
